Interested to know if anyone has any views/knowledge on fitting negative camber top trunnions - Group 2 Roadgoing A (MG Midget) - legal or not?

I think it is legal but would move you to Class 3 - Road going B. Ian is right, you would probably get more response on the FB page , the other thing to do would be to ask the eligibility scrutineer - Paul Loveridge - his email address is in the regs I think.

Actually Ian, there's much better info available on here - well for Midgets at least!
Neg camber trunnions should be OK for Group 2 according to what I've just read in the regs but might need confirmation, if you look at the regs it basically says the same for 2 and 3 which allows changes to camber etc.
They are available from Peter May and are pretty easy to fit. They are solid bushed (oilite bush) which give very good location at the cost of a bit of ride quality but to be honest you will only notice the positive benefits of fitting them. I fitted grease nipples to mine which is a good idea to keep them well lubed.
You can also get offset bushes from Moss that alter the camber a little, not as good as the full trunnion change but cheaper and can be used to make small changes.

Both group 2 & 3 also say 'using standard components' so wouldn't that exclude the solid bushes?

Yes it's a strange one, I'll have to take a closer look. When I first started in the Luffield I was under the impression that you had to use lever arm dampers in group 2 but group 3 could use tube/frontline dampers. Maybe the regs have changed over the years and no one has noticed! Most cars in group 3 seem to use neg camber trunnions. I'll do some digging.

Thanks everyone. DaveRV8 has honed in on why I asked the question. My understanding is that whilst settings are free, components in Group 2 Roadgoing A are not. As the maxim is always - if it doesn't say you can do it you can't - I thought I'd get a view from seasoned campaigners (I will of course seek our scrutineer's opinion as well). I'm not even sure of the benefits of neg camber other then possible better turn in. Since Rockingham I have lowered the rear to reduce center of gravity - Maybe I'm subconsciously trying to get the Midget to handle like my karts used to do!
I think Ian mentioned that it may be more fruitful to throw the question open to FBer's which I will also do as well. With regard to that it would be great if more Luffielder's could contribute to this forum as well or are we being spread to thin? Perhaps a discussion for another day.
I'm now in the process of serious pre-Goodwood contemplation and hopefully will see some of you there on the 15th.
Thank you once again

You should be ok with neg camber trunnions because it's basically the same for groups 2 and 3. Here's the group 2 bit:
3.2.2.5 Suspension - All standard mounting points must be used. Suspension and springing must be as standard design, using standard components. Additional brackets, links and strengthening of components is permitted. Mk I Sprites may use semi-elliptical rear springs. Spring and anti-roll bar ratings, suspension settings (camber, castor etc.), bushes and dampers are free. Rose jointed suspension is prohibited. Minimum ground clearance of bodywork for a vehicle manufactured pre 1981, is 4 inches. All other ride heights to be to Manufacturers Specification less 2 inch.
So suspension settings such as camber, castor etc are free, as are bushes and dampers.
I may start a another thread on the subject you are referring to!
